Configuration / customization - System Settings (will return to example later) - Adding applications to panel - Terminal application (konsole recommended, gnome-terminal another poss) - LM Main(K) > Applications > System > Terminal (Konsole) RM and select add to panel (can also place on desktop) - Main(K) > Applications > Utilities > Terminal (gnome-termail) - Seamonkey (recommended browser, since it has Composer that can help you easily and quickly create basic Web pages) - Main(K) > Applications > Internet > Internet Suite (seamonkey) - Text editor (kate recommended, gedit another possibility) - Main(K) > Applications > Utilities > Advanced Text Editor (kate) - Main(K) > Applications > Utilities > Text Editor (gedit) - Moving icons - First best to close open applications so panel is as clear as possible - RM on uncovered portion of panel > Panel Options > Panel Settings - Panel control bar pops up > hover mouse over icon to be moved (get cross shaped cursor) use mouse to drag icon to desired position - Starting terminal - execute pwd - execute ls - Customization of terminal settings - Open terminal - LM on Settings > Edit Current Profile - Appearance Tab - Color Scheme & Background > Black on Random Light - Font (change size, edit font) DejaVu Sans Mon, size 10 - After changing font size, may want to resize window (typically 80 x something) - Click APPLY, new settings apply to all new terminals - Show that can start additional terminals - History mechanism (arrow keys, editing) - System Settings - Example: Focus follows mouse with auto-raise - Main(K) > System Settings - General Tab > LM on Window Behavior - Policy > Focus Follows Mouse - Raise, with the following delay (set to 600 ms) - LM CLICK Apply - Policy > Click to Focus (LM) - Mouse cut, paste features - sweep, paste - double click, paste - triple click, paste - Changing background - RM in background - LM on Appearance Settings - Wallpaper - Type > Color - LM on Color - Choose Color with any mouse or via HSV / RGB setings - OK - Apply - OK - Start xmaple?
